Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 jalapeños, diced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • cooking spray, for greasing

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 8 ounces of softened cream cheese with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  2. Use a spatula to fold them together until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add in 2 diced jalapeños and 2 chopped green onions, mixing until evenly distributed.
  4. Using your hands, scoop out about 2 tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball shape.
  5. Repeat this process until all the mixture is formed into about 12-15 balls.
  6. Spread 1 cup of panko bread crumbs onto a plate.
  7. Roll each cheese ball in the panko until fully coated.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Arrange your cheese balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Give each ball a light spray with cooking spray.
  11. Bake the cheese balls in your preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden.

Notes

Storage: Store any leftover Bacon Jalapeño Popper Cheese Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze the unbaked cheese balls on a baking sheet until firm, then transfer them to a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.

Reheating: To reheat refrigerated cheese balls, place them on a baking sheet and warm them in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes, or until heated through. If frozen, bake directly from the freezer at the same temperature for about 20-25 minutes, adding a few extra minutes if needed.

Serving: Serve the Bacon Jalapeño Popper Cheese Balls warm as a delightful appetizer or snack. Pair them with ranch dressing or a spicy dipping sauce for an extra kick. Garnish with additional chopped green onions for a fresh touch.

Chef’s Tip: For added flavor, consider mixing in cooked and crumbled bacon with the cheese mixture before forming the balls. Adjust the number of jalapeños based on your preferred spice level—removing the seeds can also help reduce heat.
