Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh pineapple, chopped
- 2–4 habanero peppers, chopped (adjust for spice level)
- 1 head garlic, roasted
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 cup lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice off the top of a head of garlic and drizzle with olive oil.
- Wrap the garlic in foil and roast until golden brown and fragrant, about 30 minutes.
- While the garlic roasts, peel and core one cup of fresh pineapple.
- Chop the pineapple into small pieces to ensure even blending later.
- In a pan over medium heat, add chopped habaneros with just enough oil to coat them lightly.
- Sauté the habaneros for about 3-5 minutes until they become fragrant but not burnt.
- In a blender or food processor, combine roasted garlic cloves, sautéed habaneros, prepared pineapple chunks, white vinegar, lime juice, and salt.
- Blend the ingredients until smooth.
- Taste your hot sauce after blending and adjust salt or lime juice as needed.
- Transfer your sauce into sterilized bottles or jars.
- Let the sauce cool to room temperature before sealing.
- Refrigerate the sauce for at least two hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld together.
Notes
Storage: Store the Spicy Pineapple Habanero Hot Sauce in sterilized bottles or jars in the refrigerator. It can last for up to 2-3 weeks. For longer storage, consider freezing the sauce in ice cube trays for easy portioning.
Reheating: This hot sauce is best enjoyed cold or at room temperature. If you prefer a warm sauce, gently heat it in a saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
Serving: Drizzle the hot sauce over grilled meats, seafood, or tacos for an extra kick. It also pairs well with fried foods, or as a zesty addition to marinades and dressings.
Chef’s Tip: For a milder sauce, remove the seeds and membranes from the habanero peppers before sautéing. You can also add more pineapple or a splash of honey to balance the heat if desired.
